Today marks 25 years since 12 students and one teacher went to Columbine High School and never returned. Eric Harris, 18, and Dylan Klebold, 17, marched to the school in Colorado around lunch. On April 20, 1999, two high school seniors, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, launched an all-out assault on Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado during the middle of the school day. The boys killed 12 students and one teacher before killing themselves. The following is a list of the victims that died during the massacre. Thousands visit the memorial erected for the Columbine shooting victims in Robert Clement Park near the school. There visitors paused at the cross of Dylan Klebold, one of the killers. In honor of the 13 victims of Columbine on the occasion of 25 years since the tragedy, learn the stories of each through the inscriptions on their plaques at the Columbine Memorial. The following pictures are from memorial services held and assemblies held for the victims of the Columbine High Shootings and their families, in 1999 and over the years that have followed. Many of the photos below have been scaled-down to speed load-time. The Rocky Mountain News photography staff received the 2000 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography “for its powerful collection of emotional images taken after the student shootings at Columbine High School.” The 20 award-winning images in this gallery are presented in the order submitted to the prize committee.
